今年是東吳超級馬拉松24小時賽的第十屆，大會主題「超馬十年邁向金牌」，特舉辦十年回顧展，行政院體育委員會戴遐齡主委和國際超馬總會主席史楚馬利先生特別出席為大會貴賓。主席在記者會上說：「東吳國際賽是世界上每一個超馬跑者希望一輩子至少參加一次的賽事！」

啟用晶片統計圈數，同時舉辦12小時賽、大專10公里賽、日僑學校師生1小時跑體驗，共有473名選手和744名志工參與。

賽事結果：有4人達到國際標準（日本選手關家良一、工藤真實、法國選手豐田樂、澳洲選手佛萊爾），9人達到國家標準。雖然未達金牌賽事標準，但仍是今年世界唯二的銀牌賽事之一。

在個人成績方面，24小時男、女冠軍關家良一與工藤真實成績分別是全年度世界次佳與第三，關家良一刷新12小時亞洲紀錄；另外有3人破國家分齡紀錄，6人創個人最佳成績。12小時賽方面有5人刷新國家分齡紀錄，9人創個人紀錄。

As this was the tenth year of the running of Soochow Universities Ultra-marathon, it is milestone that shows its commitment to this yearly international competition. This historical ten year anniversary highlighted Soochow Universities commitment to cultural experiences. The day before the race an exhibition took place to look back over the ten years of this race. The theme of this exhibition was "The beginning of the second lap" which focused on the cumulative miles run over the past 10 years which is equal to running around the world one time and now beginning the second time around the world. The exhibition included the history of the Ultra-marathon, the evolution and accomplishments of the Taiwan ultra-marathon during the past decade.

This year's race introduced for the first time lap counting using a chip system. Due to complications in delivery we did not receive all the equipment until 3 days before the event. We are grateful to two alumni Mr. Lin and Mr. Wei who worked tirelessly to get the system up and working within such a short time. With this new technological system it enhanced the accuracy and credibility of the race results.

Mr. Strumane, Chairman of the International Association of Ultrarunners, Dr Dai, Chairman of the Sports Commission, and Dr. Huang, President of Soochow University were the honored guests at the beginning of the historical race. Mr. Strumane expressed his congratulations as the Soochow University Ultra-marathon had reached an international world level of recognition. Even though the results of this year's race fell short by one man in reaching the Gold race level the results were still quite impressive. The following are some of the results achieved at this year's event.
A. Four participants, Mr. Sekiya, Mr. Fryer, Miss. Kudo, and Mrs. Fountaine, completed the race at international standard distances, while nine runners reached national standard distances.
B. Mr. Sekiya broke the 12th Asia record.
C. Three runners broke records in their age group and 6 runners did their personal best.
D. In the 12 hour category, 5 new age group records were established and 9 runners did their personal best.

Once again at the pre-race press conference Mr. Strumane, Chairman of the International Association of Ultrarunners said, "The Soochow International Ultra-Marathon race is a race that every Ultra-runner of the world needs to do once in their lifetime!" On behalf of Soochow University we humbly accept this praise and we hope that in the second decade of this event we will continue to strive to hold a world class international race.
